WHY DID JESUS CHRIST SUMMARIZE THE TEN COMMANDEMENTS INTO TWO GREATEST COMMANDMENTS ?
The Ten Commandments hold a very important place in the Bible. They were given by God to guide His people in righteousness and obedience. These commandments are found in the book of Exodus 20 and show how believers should live in their relationship with God and with other people. However, in the New Testament a very important question was asked to Jesus Christ: which commandment is the greatest in the law? IN MATTHEW 22:37–40, JESUS ANSWERED: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” This answer shows that Jesus did not abolish God’s law.
